An Eloquent New Translation of a Beloved Persian TaleOne of the more popular Persian children's stories, 'The Little Black Fish' was written well over a quarter of a century ago by Samad Beh-Rang. Now, thanks to Ruby Emam's beautiful new translation accompanied by the stunning paintings by Arien Walizadeh that serve to illustrate this story, 'The Little Black Fish' is bound to become a staple in the children's literature in this country. Not that the book is confined to the shelves marked forSo happy this book has been translated into English....it is one of the books that we are proud of.
Little Black Fish is a longer than average picture book about looking beyond your own borders. The Little Black Fish wants to find out what is beyond his stream, but hes told not to question things and just do what all the other fish in the stream are doing. He decides to adventure out anyway despite what he was told and meets several animals on his journey. Im not sure what the target age is for this book, probably upper elementary. It would not be a story my children would be interested in,

This story makes me wonder. It makes me want it to go on and on, and the end of it makes me fill with emotion. An absolutely wonderful story. As an Iranian, I was read this book to when I was young, looking and marveling at the amazing pictures and patterns and story all along; and when I was old enough to read, I would still read it over and over. I can clearly see the effect this book has had on me when I re-read it again now, and all the beautiful memories that come with it. I cannot emphasise
"Madam," answered the little fish, "I don't know what you mean by 'scholar' and 'philosopher,'I've just gotten tired of these swims. I don't want to continue this boring stuff and be happy as a fool until one day I wake up and see that like all of you, I've become old, but still am as dumb asI am now."Hepimiz aslında bu koca dünyada, varoluş amacımızı arayan küçük balıklar değil miyiz? 'Etkileyici' kelimesi sönük kalır bu kitap için. Bu yüzden herkes muhakkak okumalı! Kısa ve derin... Küçük Kara
This is a really powerful fable (short story). I loved it. Very blunt, well worded. Its pushing yourself to think outside the box, try new things, old way isn't always the right way.
You should probably read it. It's my best story I had read at chilhood.
